Andhra Cabinet approves revised DPR for ports at Machilipatnam, Bhavanapadu

Visakhapatnam/Vijayawada The State Cabinet of Andhra Pradesh on Friday gave its approval to the revised DPR for development of greenfield ports at Machilipatnam (Bandar) and Bhavanapadu.

The Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Y S. Jagan Mohan Reddy gave its consent to finalize tenders for construction of Machilipatnam port in Krishna district on a fast-track mode.

The revised DPR envisages construction of the port in 36 months at a coat of Rs.5, 835 crore.

Briefing media at Amaravati, Transport Minister Nerni Venkataramaiah (Nani) said the Bhavanapadu port in Srikakulam district will be built in phases. The first phase will be completed at a cost of RS.4300 crore in 30 months.

The Minister said the Cabinet gave its stamp of approval to the techno-economic feasibility report for construction of an airport under PPP mode in Nellore district.

A decision has been taken at the meeting to form Rajamahendravaram Urban Development Authority (RUDA) by bringing parts of some areas from Godavari Urban Development Authority (GUDA). GUDA will be renamed as Kakinada Urban Development Authority (KUDA).

The Minister said encroachments where houses have been built in panchayats and municipal areas will be regularised in various categories subject to fulfilment of certain conditions.

The Cabinet also gave its nod to release of Rs.500 crore to those who lost their investments in AgriGold deposits.
